Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does the HEAL+ Program sell any weight loss supplements or diet pills?
No; in a world rife with inaccurate information on "trendy" elimination diets and dangerous weight loss supplements, very little is offered to the general public in terms of accurate and effective Nutrition Education.
The HEAL+ Program engages participants in healthy, moderate behavioral modification strategies to reform "bad habits" and emotional coping mechanisms that have created an unhealthy relationship with food or an unbalanced dietary intake.
We aim to help clients discern fact from fiction, ensuring participant safety and success through the foundational tenants of Clinical Nutrition and Exercise.
2. What is a one-on-one counseling session like?
During a one-on-one counseling session, participants meet with a Nutrition Counselor to discuss dietary/weight/exercise history, goals, and areas of tribulation (emotional eating, eating out of boredom, food preference, etc.).
The Nutrition Counselor will then work with the client over a period of time, providing a comfortable and supportive environment for the client to implement a series of gradual, reformative strategies designed to replace bad habits with positive behaviors and promote the achievement of the client's individual goals.
3. What can I expect from a "support group" session?
Support Group Members benefit by becoming part of a small group of individuals with similar goals and challenges.
Groups provide the unique opportunity to meet people who can provide a larger support network and a motivational team atmosphere, which many clients find to be highly conducive to their success.
Support group sessions are offered in groups of 5-20 (family support groups are the largest, at around 20 participants). Support group members are placed in a group based upon the client's individual preference.
HEAL+ currently offers the following support group sessions:
1.Family (Parent or Guardians, along with their Child or Children)
2.Female
3.Coed (May be singles or couples, coed environment)
Support groups are facilitated in the following manner:
Each session will have an introduction period, wherein each group member will be given time to share weekly areas of trial or success to receive support and suggestion from the group facilitator or other members.
Once the weekly introductory period is complete, the facilitator will guide participants through the weekly dietary lesson and open the discussion for inquiries, planning, and support.
Support group sessions are led and moderated by the Nutrition Facilitator to ensure that all group members feel comfortable, supported, and respected.
4. How much does the HEAL+ Program Cost?
Support groups are 60-120 minutes in duration, dependent upon client involvement and the daily lesson plan. Groups are $10 per session, or a flat cost of $20 for families.
Private counseling sessions last 60-90 minutes at a cost of $25 per hour.
